Dubai Public Beaches First in the World to Achieve Certified Autism Centre Status

Dubai Municipality has proudly announced that its public beaches are the first in the world to be designated as a Certified Autism Centre (CAC) by the International Board of Certification and Continuing Education Standards. This landmark achievement was unveiled at the AccessAbilities Expo 2024 in Dubai, an event focused on empowering people of determination and addressing their needs for a dignified life.

The CAC certification signifies that Dubai’s public beaches are equipped with the essential facilities and features to create an autism-friendly environment, reflecting the leadership’s vision of transforming Dubai into the best city in the world to live and visit.

Ibrahim Mohammad Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, stated, “We will build on the momentum of this achievement by continuing to provide a safe environment and offering residents and visitors the best opportunities to enjoy the unique and exclusive experiences available at the beaches’ recreational facilities, all adhering to the highest international standards.”

The CAC certificate acknowledges Dubai Municipality’s commitment to providing educational programs and training workshops for its employees, as well as adopting world-class standards and a pioneering approach in this sector. Myron Pincombe, CEO and Board Chairman of the International Council for Accreditation Standards and Continuing Education, noted the leadership team’s vital role in ensuring that all public beaches are accessible to everyone.

Additionally, residents and visitors can access information about the accommodations available at Dubai’s beaches through the Accessibility App, allowing them to choose the best beach based on the level of accessibility offered. This initiative marks a significant step toward inclusivity and enhancing the experience for all beachgoers in Dubai.

UAE to Pioneer Palm Vein Payment Technology, Phasing Out Credit Cards and Cash Withdrawals

Residents of the UAE may soon bid farewell to traditional payment methods like credit cards and digital applications, as a groundbreaking solution utilizing palm vein technology is under development. This innovative system, which aims to provide faster and seamless services, will link to various public and private sector entities and is currently being trialed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) in collaboration with the Central Bank of the UAE.

Showcased at the ICP stand during Gitex Global 2024, this initiative is a key component of the UAE Vision 2031 program and is in its final stages of development. According to an ICP spokesperson, the unique palm veins of each individual will be utilized for identification. By enrolling their palm biometrics through the ICP platform, individuals can ensure the accuracy of their personal details, allowing them to make payments or withdraw cash at ATMs using their palm.

Unlike facial recognition, which can be more intrusive, palm vein technology is seen as a less invasive option. Individuals can register their palm biometrics using their Emirates ID card or other methods provided by ICP.

“This palm vein payment system can also be utilized in crowded areas like metro stations, facilitating easier access to services. Instead of relying on a metro card, users will simply use their palm for entry,” explained the spokesperson at Gitex 2024. This method offers enhanced security since palm details cannot be easily shared, addressing a common concern associated with credit card usage.

The UAE is set to become the first country in the Middle East to implement this cutting-edge technology. “Once all necessary requirements are established, we will roll it out to the public,” the spokesperson confirmed. This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to investing in innovative technologies to improve the quality of life for its citizens and residents.

Abu Dhabi Unveils Revolutionary Driverless Police Patrol Car with Drone and Traffic Control Capabilities

Abu Dhabi Police has unveiled a cutting-edge autonomous patrol vehicle known as the MK1 prototype, making waves at the Gitex Global Technology Conference. This innovative electric vehicle (EV) is designed with a range of features that enhance law enforcement capabilities, including an integrated drone box, off-road functionality, and the ability to control traffic lights during emergencies.

The MK1 is powered by AI technologies that significantly boost its operational efficiency. It incorporates voice processing for seamless interaction with officers, data analysis from various sensors, and behavior monitoring to improve situational awareness. Built for both urban and rugged terrains, the vehicle boasts a sturdy chassis capable of navigating the UAE’s varied landscapes, including water crossings of up to 800mm. While the MK1 prototype is currently in development, its official deployment date has yet to be determined.

A standout feature of the MK1 is its integrated drone box, which allows officers to quickly deploy a drone for aerial surveillance and enhanced situational awareness. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera, infrared capabilities, and advanced lighting, providing comprehensive coverage even in low-visibility situations.

Inside the MK1, officers benefit from a fully equipped command room designed for efficient emergency response. The vehicle features an integrated audio-visual system that monitors vital signs, improving operational capabilities during critical scenarios. Furthermore, the MK1 can control traffic lights, enabling officers to switch red lights to green during high-speed pursuits. This functionality ensures swift navigation through congested areas, thereby enhancing response times and public safety.

“This vehicle is a game changer for us,” an official stated, highlighting the MK1’s advanced features. “With its off-road capabilities and integrated drone system, we can manage emergencies more effectively. It’s not just about speed; it’s about situational awareness and gaining a tactical advantage in real-time scenarios.”
