Dubai Municipality has proudly announced that its public beaches are the first in the world to be designated as a Certified Autism Centre (CAC) by the International Board of Certification and Continuing Education Standards. This landmark achievement was unveiled at the AccessAbilities Expo 2024 in Dubai, an event focused on empowering people of determination and addressing their needs for a dignified life.
The CAC certification signifies that Dubai’s public beaches are equipped with the essential facilities and features to create an autism-friendly environment, reflecting the leadership’s vision of transforming Dubai into the best city in the world to live and visit.
Ibrahim Mohammad Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, stated, “We will build on the momentum of this achievement by continuing to provide a safe environment and offering residents and visitors the best opportunities to enjoy the unique and exclusive experiences available at the beaches’ recreational facilities, all adhering to the highest international standards.”
The CAC certificate acknowledges Dubai Municipality’s commitment to providing educational programs and training workshops for its employees, as well as adopting world-class standards and a pioneering approach in this sector. Myron Pincombe, CEO and Board Chairman of the International Council for Accreditation Standards and Continuing Education, noted the leadership team’s vital role in ensuring that all public beaches are accessible to everyone.
Additionally, residents and visitors can access information about the accommodations available at Dubai’s beaches through the Accessibility App, allowing them to choose the best beach based on the level of accessibility offered. This initiative marks a significant step toward inclusivity and enhancing the experience for all beachgoers in Dubai.
