DXB airport to only allow Passengers inside during busy season

Airport authorities have announced restrictions for non-passengers as Dubai International (DXB) gears up for the summer vacation travel rush from July 6 to 17. With UAE schools closed in July and August, this period is the most popular for families to travel.

As during the Eid Al Adha travel rush, only passengers will be allowed inside the terminals during peak periods. Authorities recommend that those dropping off passengers say their farewells at home. Additionally, access to the arrivals’ forecourts at Terminals 1 and 3 is restricted to public transport and authorized airport vehicles only.

DXB is expected to see a “significant increase” in traffic from July 6 to 17, with an anticipated 3.3 million guests arriving and departing. During this period, 914,000 travelers are expected to fly out of DXB. The peak will occur over the weekend of July 12-14, with 840,000 passengers, marking the busiest weekend. July 13 is projected to be the single busiest day, with 286,000 travelers expected. On average, the airport will handle approximately 274,000 travelers daily during the peak period.

Flydubai passengers are advised to arrive at least four hours prior to departure, while those flying with other airlines should arrive no earlier than three hours before their scheduled departure time. This summer is forecast to be exceptionally busy, with travel provider dnata reporting a 35 percent increase in bookings for international travel in July and August compared to last year. Emirates Airline also advised passengers to plan for extra traffic on roads leading to the airport.

Dubai Airports, which operates DXB, recommends travelers use the Dubai Metro to get to and from the airport and between Terminals 1 and 3 to avoid road congestion. They also advise allowing extra time for check-in, security screening, and boarding processes to ensure a smooth journey.

Other travel tips from the airport operator include:

  • Familiarize yourself with your airline’s baggage allowance and packing regulations to avoid last-minute surprises.
  • Save time at security screening by being prepared. Place metal items—watch, jewelry, mobile phone, coins, belt—in your hand luggage and follow guidelines for carrying liquids, aerosols, and gels.
  • Families with children over 12 can expedite the passport control process by using smart gates.
  • Remember to pack spare batteries and power banks in your hand luggage.

Jebel Ali beach to be the longest public beach in Dubai

Jebel Ali Beach is set to the best longest public open beach in Dubai.

Plans for the Jebel Ali Beach development project have been approved, and at 6.6 kilometres long, the beach will include facilities for swimming, diving, offer walkways with viewing platforms, play zones for kids and a mangrove ecosystem.

What’s more, the recently revealed plans include details on Jebel Ali Beach’s turtle rehabilitation programmes, allowing visitors to enjoy watching turtles in their natural habitat.

The plans, confirmed on Sunday July 7, reveal Jebel Ali Beach will cover an area of 330 hectares, which will see 5 kilometres of sandy beach to be developed by Nakheel and a 1.6 kilometre mangrove beach to be developed by Dubai Municipality.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said: “Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, [Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai] we are committed to developing the infrastructure and services needed to offer diverse urban experiences for citizens, residents, and visitors.

“Our focus is on creating spaces rich in beaches, open areas, and recreational greens. The ultimate goal is to enhance the well-being of the city’s people, create a healthy environment for all and make Dubai the world’s best place to live in.”

His Highness added: “The Jebel Ali Beach Development Project is part of a broader master plan to develop public beaches in the emirate aimed at increasing the total length of beaches by 400%.”

The longer term aim is to add new public beaches to our city, enhance our current favourite beachy spots and to kit each one out with even more things to do.
